Fishing report 8/9/13
Spring is well & truly with us & lots of sunny days makes for some wonderful fishing. Bream, Perch & Luderick can all be located. The river is starting to fire up with some good bags of Bream & all will agree the afternoon is best. Luderick are around the weed beds in front of the channel & I’ve had a good session using sand worm, they’re not 2 pounders but still great sport.
Perch have been found in the lake, they’re mixed up with big Taylor & Trevally. Not much happening down in the channel a few Salmon on the incoming tide.
There are still plenty of options maybe the river is going to be like old times. We’ve seen it before many times over the years. The mouth of the river is shallow so care must be taken.
The boat ramp remains a major concern council have drafted a side by side pair of pontoons which will sit on the mud in the absence of dredging (see our Face Book page “Bemm River Angling club INC”).
I have very little confidence in this plan I have seen a similar pair of pontoons at Lake Tyres which are standing up & at this moment they are unusable in low tide. Lake Tyres has 2 other ramps close by & one at Nowa Nowa so they son’t have the same issues we have.
Angling club members should take note, this project in it’s current form could change the access capability for years to come. We only have this one spot to unload & I fear for the boating access into Sydenham Inlet.
