September fishing report

Despite some heavy rain, and very strong river flows, the lake has closed this week. Maybe it was the huge seas, or the pretty calm weather combined with the back side of the moon phase. I don,t know how it has happened, what I do know, is that this is a unique event, and probably a sign of things to come.

The lake has risen very quickly, and with spring rains will open pretty soon. During this period fishing has been tough. Bream are very hard to find, and catches are down in numbers, with most anglers only bagging three or four fish a day.  One visiting angler fished from the bank up at the west end of the lake , and using peeled prawn was able to bag a few nice Bream.

He spent quite a bit of time lure fishing for Salmon on the beach and had a great time. The Salmon are not huge, but they are in good numbers, and are good fun to catch.

With rising water the lake edges could be worthwhile, and as the water warms up it should start to fire the Bream up.

Over the last couple of days Bemm has had 70mls of rain , and with a lot of water coming down the river, the level of the Lake is very high.

Recent fishing reports are much improved, with good bags of quality Bream being landed.

Sand worm and Prawn the best two baits.
