BEMM RIVER ANGLING CLUB REPORT 5/9/16
Anglers are having great success in the Lake as well as in the River. There are quite a lot of undersized fish amongst the better quality, and the bigger fish seem to come on the bite at different times.
The Mahoganeys has been productive, and fishing around the weed beds near the mouth of the channel has produced Luderick and Bream. Reports indicate this type of angling is best in cloudy conditions. Best baits are still frozen prawn and sandworm, and there is a good supply of sandworm at Bemm. Lure fishermen have had good results with a variety of plastics, vibes and hard bodies have been used.
Fish are starting to show in the River, a great area for sheltered waters in windy weather.
Some anglers have had success, but might be put off for a few days as the 60mls of rain has increased the run of dirty water in the river.
The Channel is worth a try for Salmon trolling with lazer lures. Vibes and plastics are good value once the Salmon are found.
Reports from the Surf are much the same with Salmon taking blue bait, pilchards and lures catching their share.
The Spring period looks to be providing anglers with rich rewards and many options.
Hope you all get to wet a line this spring. DON CUNNINGHAM
