Fishing report 31/5/13
Very low tides, high water levels, just what you need to open the entrance. As well as manpower. So on Thursday it happened many shovels of heavy wet sand had the trench running by midday, after a few stops & starts it became a torrent by evening. I went to the ramp first thing Friday morning, pretty smelly however the lake was back to it’s normal height. A good effort from those involved.
Fishing has been steady leading up to this time. So I was very pleased to bag 4 lovely big bream that afternoon. After 7 months it will take a few days for things to settle down. The water is fairly clear & it remains to be seen where the Bream settle, I fished the Bushy Wriggler for my few fish. Mark had given me a vibe to try as he had some success with it earlier. So with my first cast & on the last lift I felt a serious amount of weight on my rod tip which then moved to the left & sat, I couldn’t lift it off the bottom. You don’t get much time to react, but in the end it went to the right then powered away taking Marks’ lure with it. I bet we’ve all had this happen a few times & it is an indication of what lays beneath & out of sight.
Looking ahead I will be watching out for new fish down the channel, it can be exciting down there when the Salmon & Taylor come in.
I never get enough time to fish, however I try to get out most days even for a couple of hours. I’m ever mindful of how close I am to the fish here at Bemm River, I only need 20 minutes & I’m fishing.
I continue “living the dream”
