BEMM RIVER ANGLING CLUB FISHING REPORT
There were not many fishermen around at the end of May, however those that fished enjoyed good weather, as well as good catches of Bream.
The water level in the lake was very high and an attempt to open the Lake failed. It started to rain, not heavy, but very ominous shades of June 1998. The water got higher, and the council blocked off access to both ramps for safety reasons.
With the rain persisting, a second attempt was successful, and the lake emptied out overnight. We were lucky that the weather improved after about 100 mls of rain.
The long weekend brought many visitors to Bemm, who valued their last opportunity before winter sets in to wet a line. Anglers were apprehensive on the Friday, but surprise, surprise, some good fishing was had. Saturday was hard work because the Lake was rough, and the weather cold. There was a big improvement on Sunday and Monday and most anglers got amongst some good fish. A few anglers reported Bream up to 40 cms using lures on the drift.
Bait anglers had reasonable catches despite what were difficult conditions.
Pearl Point provided surf anglers with excellent bags of Salmon, and a great time was had by all despite the cold.
The next meeting will be held on on Tuesday 21st of June.
Lunch will be provided at 12 noon, followed by the meeting.
