The Lake is open, with clear water visible in the Estuary. It has been wet and cold, however fishing has been rewarding. Strong winds made for limited opportunities last weekend. I fished with the McCoy group on three outings, with some nice fish coming in. We were using Sandworm on a Jig head, as well as Plastics. By drifting with the wind, we were able to catch some quality Bream.
The hands got very cold, and on a couple of occasions we came in. It was great to pick the calmer periods, because the fish came on the bite. Sunday was very wet and windy, but I had a good report of a lovely bag landed from Bobs Bay close into the bank, out of the wind.
Better weather this week could give everyone a chance Estuary Perch, Bream and Luderick have been found down the Channel on Vibes and Plastics. It is a bit early to predict, but a good season could happen, we need follow up rain to keep the entrance open.
Local Sandworm and Frozen Prawn are now available at the bait shop in Bemm River.
Tight lines Don Cunningham.
BEMM RIVER ANGLING REPORT 25/6/18
Good news, the entrance was opened late last week, after being closed since last October.
The Lake and Surf fished well before we opened , and we anticipate that the trend will continue. Good reports of Bream on Sandworm in the Lake, and River Mouth.
Local Sandworm is now available, as well as Frozen Prawn.
Blue Bait and Poppers have produced good quality Salmon at most of the beaches, and now the water has receded, access to Pearl Point will suit all vehicles.
