BEMM RIVER ANGLING CLUB FISHING REPORT XMAS NEW YEAR 2017/18
Visitors have enjoyed excellent catches of Bream, as well as a few Flathead and Taylor.
Lure anglers have found productive marks all around the Lake and Channel. The River mouth and Pelican Point have been popular locations to target. Hard bodies and plastics are being used, with quite a few 40 cm+ Bream being landed and returned to the water.
Catch and release anglers have reported a large variety of sizes indicating many successful spawning seasons.
Frozen Prawn, Sandworm and Spider Crab have been good value for the bait fishermen, and the Bream are attacking all baits quite well, with reports of some great fishing.
The Lake is rising slowly, and is about three quarters full.
The Pearl Point track has been graded, and all beaches have been accessible so far this year. Large Salmon up to 3.3 kgs have been reported on most of the beaches, with Pearl Point giving protection from the Easterley winds this week.
Poppers, Pillchards and Blue Bait the most popular baits.
MEMBERS ARE REMINDED THAT WE FISH AGAINST STRATFORD ANGLING CLUB ON THE 17th and 18th OF FEBRUARY FOR THE SHIELD.
We look forward to seeing as many members as possible taking part in a great weekend.
Don Cunningham.
