The lake remains open, and fishing has improved with what appears to be an influx of Trevally , Taylor and Luderick coming in.
The angling club held a working bee to clean up the rocks on the outside of the boat ramp, which has upgraded the ramp to two lanes.
Water levels have been fairly shallow, and visitors should take care not to back off the end of the ramp.
The best Bream fishing has been late in the day. My last outing was early morning. I was using a wriggler lure and had some good sport. The Bream were a bit small, but I landed a good size Flathead and Trevally and was broken off on two big Taylor. I moved over into Bob,s Bay where there was a lot of surface splashing of bait fish, however they did,nt indicate that they were being chased by Taylor. After a few casts with the wriggler without a bite, I took the wriggler off and threaded some sandworm onto the jig head , and on my first cast was successful landing a 2lb Luderick.
With better reports coming from the surf I look forward to a great Christmas period at Bemm River. Merry Christmas to you all Don Cunningham.
