December 2014

Posted by brac on December 14, 2014

2014 has been a most unusual year with some outstanding features

Apart from being a very wet year, the lake closed and opened twice in the months of July and August.

The last opening was on the 8th of September, and recent rain has been sufficient to keep it open, however, the entrance seems to be sanding up very quickly.

Bream are being caught in the lake. Prawn and sandworm continue to work well. Small Bream seem to be beating the bigger fish to the bait, but with frequent moves better quality can be found. Our regular visitors have indicated that it has been very unusual, and have had to persevere to succeed. The River has been very quiet and unreliable.

Just being on the water is so important, because good bags have been caught in less than an hour. There is no set time , just be there.

The Flathead are moving around quite a bit, and not a lot to report at this time.

The surf is quiet, just the odd Salmon and Taylor reported. A couple of good Gummy Shark have been landed, but most nights Skate, Port Jackson Shark and Crabs have been real pests.
