August 2016

More settled weather has seen some good bags of Bream being landed. The very calm days are proving to be the off days, as bites can be a long way between.

Sandworm has been the preferred bait for bait fishermen, and the lures have produced some good quality fish over the last couple of days Bream are scattered throughout the Lake, and spring is nearly here.

Fishing around the River mouth, just clear of the shallows seems to be a good option, and some good bags of Bream have been landed West of Pelican Point.

Good catches of smaller sized Salmon have been landed in the Channel.

Trolling lazer lures on light gear has produced some great sport. Schools of these Salmon move around quite a bit, and I have caught them at Reg’s Rest, at the blowhole, as well as further down the channel. There has been a report of two quality Luderick being landed at the Channel mouth fishing close to the weed beds.

The latest report from the Surf indicates similar size Salmon are being taken at Pearl Point on blue bait.

NOTE To all our club members two of our fishing platforms in the River have now been completed, and a great place to be if the weather turns wet and windy.

Looking forward to the spring fishing.

Bemm River has had a big flow of water until now, but as the flow subsides, we are seeing clear water coming into the inlet.
The water has been a good height, and angling very productive during what has been a cold and windy period.
I fished Friday and Saturday morning, the weather was fine and I had no luck. I came in for lunch, and missed out on the afternoon session. Just after lunch seemed to be the time that the fish came on the bite, and with about ten boats and canoes out, it was a very rewarding afternoon. Good bags were reported, and the catch and release anglers in their canoes were happy to report some wonderful sport.
Motor Oil Z Man Grubs, as well as bloodworm Wrigglers were put to good use. Bait fishermen had success using sandworm , but Sunday the Bream  were harder to find.
There is not a lot to report on the surf, as the weather has been very cold and windy.
