August fishing report
Plenty of rain has been falling and as a result we have a large entrance. Salmon are proving great sport, especially on light tackle, trolling or just casting lightweight lures on the drift is working.
The bream have been slow with some bags of 4 or 5 landed. With the warmer weather not too far away we should see some improvement.
During the school holidays Justin with his little girl Kayla fished for a few days and she features on our site with a great 2 lb 7 oz bream, however Justin told me she had great fun catching and letting go small bream down the channel. He also told me that all these little bream had no tail fin, we discussed this for a bit pretty much nonplussed, like Is it a Worry?
Fishing a few days back in the lake right near the river mouth, I caught a salmon about 2 lbs. I was fishing first cast using a vibe on my bream rod, it took quite a while to land. When cleaning this salmon I noticed it had a bream about 4 inches long in its gut and guess what, its tail had been nibbled off. A photo of this is also on this site.
